Applications for Volunteer Project Grants will close on Friday, April 24.
What is the responsibility of nominating employees for Global Caring Month volunteer projects?
Employees interested in nominating an organization or project need to connect with that organization to ensure alignment of objectives and execution details.
Alignment must include:
- Meeting Global Caring Month grant criteria
- Global Caring Month theme
- Project impact
- Volunteer roles
- Number of volunteers
- Detailed Budget
Once alignment with an organization is reached, the nominating employee should fill out the 2025 Ford Global Caring Month Grant Application form with input from the organization.
What are the criteria for an organization to be selected for a Global Caring Month grant?
Ford Volunteer Corps team will review the mission of the organization and the community that they serve. Employees are asked to be as specific as possible with budget line items. Applications submitted on behalf of employee teams will be prioritized.
The following items will be considered during the review process for grants:
- Clearly identified community need and alignment with a Global Caring Month volunteer project theme
- Number of employee volunteers required for the project
- Detailed budget
- Clearly stated, tangible impact/outcome of the project
Ford Philanthropy Grant Policies
Ford Philanthropy recognizes many organizations are worthy of support.
Unfortunately, budget and policy limitations prevent us from honoring all requests.
Ford Philanthropy does not support:
- Advocacy-directed programs, animal rights organizations, species-specific organizations
- Beauty or talent contests, sports teams, golf outings
- Day-to-day operations or debt reduction initiatives for businesses, labor groups or nonprofits
- Efforts to influence legislation or the outcome of elections, election of candidates to public office, voter registration drive or political contributions
- Endowments, fraternal organizations, organizations that do not have 501(c)(3) status, private K-12 schools, religious programs or sectarian programs for religious purposes
- General operating support to hospitals and healthcare institutions
- Individual sponsorships related to fundraising activities, individuals
- Organizations that unlawfully discriminate in their provision of goods and services based on race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, national origin, physical challenge, age or status as a protected veteran.
All projects in the United States will be administered by Ford Philanthropy. Outside the United States, our partner GlobalGiving will administer the grant funds, including the nonprofit due diligence and verification.
GlobalGiving’s Due Diligence Requirements
GlobalGiving provides a comprehensive list of vetted organizations outside the U.S. By choosing an organization that already has a relationship with GlobalGiving, the grant process is much faster.
GlobalGiving is a public foundation that connects nonprofits, donors, and companies in nearly every country in the world. Every grantee is vetted by the GlobalGiving team and we are responsible for ensuring your grant project is executed in compliance with U.S. grantmaking guidelines.
If Your Application is Selected
Ford Philanthropy has sole discretion over project selection and grant amounts. Final grant amounts may be less than the amount requested. If your application is selected to receive a grant Ford Philanthropy and/or GlobalGiving (our grantmaking partner) will reach out directly to the organization listed in the application to begin the due diligence process.
It is imperative that Ford Global Caring Month project coordinators ensure the partner organization is communicating with GlobalGiving (if outside of the US) and submits requested documentation in a timely manner. If the partner organization does not comply with requirements of GlobalGiving, it is possible they will lose eligibility for the grant. Deadlines will be enforced.
